Alnwick, Northumberland: Transport Survey June 2026

Questions for all!

What do you want to see from public transport in Northumberland?

Which rail and bus routes would you like?

Would you like to see buses running earlier and later in the day, possibly even night buses?

Have you got any suggestions you’d like to put forward?

Please leave a comment below with your thoughts!

Responses:

  • More frequent buses to/from Wooler to Newcastle, especially to get to hospital appointments at places such as RVI.
  • Shilbottle to Alnmouth direct buses (more frequent)?
  • Bus from Alnwick/Amble to Cramlington and X20 to run on Sundays.
  • Bus Meets Train at Alnmouth Station.
  • Shilbottle to Alnmouth Station: One bus or single through ticket.
  • All X18 and X20 buses to run via Alnmouth Railway Station, and coastal X18 (assume headed to from Berwick) to also run via Alnmouth Station rather than Lesbury.
  • Night buses to/from Newcastle.
  • More buses between Seahouses and Alnwick, especially later in the day.
  • Filling the timetable gap between Alnmouth Station and Newcastle in the mornings.
  • Improved services between Alnwick and Rothbury.
  • Later buses between Alnwick and Wooler

Whilst we will feed this back to the Northumberland Branch of NEPTUG (North East Public Transport User Group) of which the Northumberland Coast Loop is a member, if you can join personally (which is FREE), it gives us more weight to lobby politicians to deliver improvements, so if you can please join here: https://neptug.org.uk/site-navigation/join/
