An ancient football game is due to be played on Alnwick Pastures (opposite side of the River Aln to Alnwick Castle) on Tuesday 17th February 2026, in just under a months time. For more details, please visit the Alnwick Town Council website.

First recorded in 1762, the annual game is played between the parishes of St Michael and St Paul, and is one of very few medieval football games still played in the UK. More details on the history of the game can be found on the Wikipedia page for the event.
If you’re free on Tuesday 17th February 2026, why not come (ideally by train and bus) to Alnwick to watch this ancient game being played?
